Vintage Gran Signore Long Sleeve Polo Shirt 70s

A heavier sweater-knit polo in solid brown, with a two-button placket, patch chest pocket, and ribbed cuffs and hem — built more like a light sweater than a summer polo. The only branding is a small tone-on-tone emblem worked directly into the pocket, easy to miss at a glance, paired with genuine mother-of-pearl-style buttons. Quiet details throughout, nothing shouting for attention.

The tag reads “Gran Signore Per Maschiezza,” a label that doesn’t turn up much of a paper trail — the name reads Italian, though the handful of surviving references to it tag it as Japanese, and nothing conclusive settles which. Either way, it wasn’t a mass mall brand; the construction and understated branding point to something made with more care than a typical department-store polo of the era.

A well-made shirt that never needed to say so.
