Tool Los Angeles California Band T-Shirt Y2K
The back print is a mandala built entirely out of eyes — hundreds of them, spiraling inward toward a center, with skulls and bone forms crowding the outer edge. Anyone who owned Lateralus recognizes the vocabulary immediately. That album’s artwork came from Alex Grey, the visionary painter whose anatomical, third-eye-heavy work became inseparable from the band’s identity after guitarist Adam Jones spotted a solo show of his in Santa Monica and asked him to design the record.
What followed went well past album art. Grey built stage environments that toured 90 cities with the band, and his imagery ran through their videos and live shows for years — a rare case of a band and a painter becoming a single visual signature.
The front carries the interlocking Tool wordmark filled with the same red biomechanical texture, and the sleeve reads Los Angeles, California under an eight-pointed star.
Merch that took its own artwork as seriously as the record.
