Vintage Alaska Animal Runes T-Shirt 90s
Grizzly, wolf, and moose, each set against a mountain range and printed to look like something older than a t-shirt — torn stone tablets, deckled edges, geometric border strips running down the sides. The lettering below is lowercase and widely spaced, the mountains reduced to a single jagged line. Almost nothing about the design announces itself.
The tag reads Prairie Mountain, out of Lockwood, Missouri — a company that has spent forty-plus years supplying souvenir and resort shops across the country, with an art department that builds designs to fit whatever location a shop happens to sit in. Their catalog runs to hundreds of designs: zoo animals, Southwest, wolves, North American wildlife.
Which means an Alaska shirt in a gift shop in Alaska was almost certainly drawn, printed, and shipped from a small town in southwest Missouri.
The souvenir is real; the geography is a coincidence.
