Vintage Marlboro Wild West Collection Cowboy T-Shirt 90s
You couldn’t buy this shirt. From 1994 to 2006, Philip Morris ran Marlboro Miles — five miles printed on every pack, torn off and saved until you’d accumulated enough to order from the Country Store catalog. Jackets, Zippos, sleeping bags, pool tables. The arithmetic was the point: a modest item ran hundreds of packs.
The design plays it straight. A bronc rider mid-buck across the back, rendered in flat unoutlined color blocks like a WPA poster, with “Marlboro Wild West” in red script on the chest pocket. No cigarettes anywhere on it. That was the whole strategy — sell the cowboy, not the product, and let people wear the advertisement voluntarily.
Printed by Screen Craft Ind. of O’Fallon, Missouri.
When the program ended in 2006, collectors were left holding miles they’d spent years accumulating, with nothing left to redeem them for.
