Vintage Bo Derek Iron On T-Shirt 70s
In the 1970s there were shops that sold nothing but blank tees and iron-on transfers — walls papered with hundreds of designs, a heat press behind the counter, and a shirt made to order while you waited. Transfers turned up everywhere else too: mail order, state fairs, newspaper inserts, the backs of cereal boxes. You picked an image, picked a shirt, and the two became one thing in about twenty seconds.
This one is a beach photo of Bo Derek in a white swimsuit, framed in gold and silver glitter flake with her signature reproduced underneath. Worth noting: she was already famous before 10 opened in October 1979, largely off an erotic beach poster that had sold more than half a million copies. The film took a poster girl and made her a household name — and put a number into the language, though Dudley Moore actually calls her an eleven.
Pressed onto a Devknit 50/50 blank, the poly-cotton blend these transfers adhered to best.
A made-to-order shirt of a woman who was already a poster.
