Vintage Alan Stewart Bowling Polo Shirt Colorblock Banded 80s

By 1952 the AMF Pinspotter had finally worked out its kinks, and the machine that replaced the pinboy did more than speed up a frame — it turned bowling into a national habit. Within six years AMF had leased forty thousand of them, and the leagues filling those lanes brought a uniform with them: contrast panels across the chest, a name stitched near the pocket, a hem that stopped at the waist and stayed put through a follow-through.

This one is the 1980s remembering that decade. Alan Stewart built it on the colorblock striping and banded waist that defined the original bowling-club silhouette, finished with an embroidered diamond at the chest — a mid-century motif that never really left American sportswear.

The banded waist is the detail that gives the style away. Tucking was never the point; the hem was engineered to sit clean at the hip while the arms worked, which is why the cut outlived the leagues that invented it and kept resurfacing every time the 50s came back around.

Fifty years of Friday nights, worn on the shoulders.
