Vintage Ely Championship Collection Bib Front Western Shirt Pearl Snap 80s
Snaps reached the cowboy shirt for a practical reason. Jack A. Weil founded Rockmount Ranch Wear in Denver in 1946 and made the first western shirts to close with snaps instead of buttons, on the logic that a shirt should give way when a horn catches it rather than hold and take the rider with it. Safety equipment that happened to look good.
The bib front is the harder detail to find. A second panel laid across the chest, fastening off to one side, it turns an everyday snap shirt into something closer to stage wear — the shape that reads as western from across a room before any of the other details register.
This one carries an Ely Championship Collection tag, with pearl snaps down the bib and more at the cuffs.
Built for a working morning, cut for a Saturday night.
