Vintage Chicago Bears Crewneck Sweatshirt 90s

The tag says Logo 7, Indianapolis — a company that ran on the two hours after a final whistle. Founded there in 1971, later owned by mall developers Herb and Mel Simon and then sold to Tultex, Logo 7 built its business on championship merchandise, which meant guessing right before anyone knew the answer.

The month before this sweatshirt’s 1996 licensing date, the plant staged the gamble in miniature: presses loaded with Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XXX graphics, silver and blue ink already spooned in, embroidery bobbins threaded, the whole floor idling through kickoff on a bet. Employees ate pizza in the cafeteria and watched the game. Dallas won. The presses ran.

This one carries no such urgency — just CHICAGO and BEARS arched in orange around the growling bear head, marked TM/© 1996 NFLP, the kind of steady catalog piece that paid the bills between championships.

A sweatshirt from a company that made its money betting on the outcome.
