Vintage Drink Doc’s Quality Beverages T-Shirt 70s
“DRINK DOC’S — Quality Beverages,” red and green on a ribbon banner inside a rounded-corner frame. It’s the exact visual grammar of a mid-century bottler’s sign: the imperative verb, the script “Quality,” the two-color palette a small shop could print cheaply.
Before national distribution flattened the market, nearly every town of any size had its own bottling works. Sun-Rise Beverages out of North Tazewell, Virginia. Smith Beverage Company in Burlington, North Carolina. A-Treat in Allentown, Artesian in Dubuque, Green Bay Beverages in Green Bay. They made root beer, orange, grape, and cherry, sold them within a short truck radius, and most of them are gone without much of a paper trail — a university library researching the Burlington outfit found almost nothing survived.
The credit line at the bottom of the graphic reads Burke Enterprises LTD. Printed on a Stedman Sport-T.
A local soda brand, preserved on cotton instead of glass.
